FAQ

How is this different from a Google Sheet?+
A spreadsheet is flexible, but every model is bespoke - formulas break, scenarios are copy-pasted tabs, sharing is PDFs. RocketRunway gives you scenario isolation, growth modeling, milestone annotations, and one-click sharing as first-class features. If you outgrow it, export CSV and go back to a sheet.
Do I need a credit card to start?+
No. The 7-day trial gives you full Pro features with no card. If you don’t subscribe, the workspace moves to read-only, then gets archived 30 days later. Your data is safe - subscribe any time to restore.
What counts as a ‘scenario’ on the Startup plan?+
Scenarios are distinct runway models - e.g. ‘base case’, ‘hire-two-engineers’, ‘delayed fundraise’. Startup includes 3 active scenarios; Pro goes to 10; Team is unlimited. Duplicate and tweak is the standard workflow.
Can I share a scenario with my investor without them creating an account?+
Yes. Every plan has share links - a read-only URL you can send anyone. Pro adds password protection. Team removes the 'Powered by RocketRunway' footer.
Does the AI actually edit my model, or is it just chat?+
It edits. Describe a change (‘bump salaries 10% from June’) and it generates a diff of specific line-item updates. You see the preview, accept or reject per line. Nothing changes without your click.
Can I stress-test my plan without breaking it?+
Yes. Pro+ plans include what-if sliders: drag to nudge expenses, revenue, or one-time-item timing and watch the runway re-project live. Nothing saves until you click ‘Save as new scenario’ - or you can take a snapshot first, slide things around, and restore if you don’t like where it landed.
Can I plan hiring as part of my runway?+
Yes. The hiring plan (Pro+) lets you add positions with role, salary, start date, and optional end date. Each position auto-renders as a virtual monthly expense in the runway projection - change a hire date and the runway recalculates immediately. Includes a 24-month headcount-over-time chart.
How do I export the chart for a board deck?+
The export dialog is a chart builder, not a one-click download. Pick aspect ratio (16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 21:9), color preset or per-channel pickers, font and size, layout toggles, and an optional title. Live preview, then download a 2x-resolution PNG. Settings persist per scenario. PDF export is on Pro+.
Do you support currencies other than USD?+
Yes. Pick your workspace's display currency from USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, or SGD in workspace settings. All amounts and chart axes render in your chosen currency. Display-only for now - no FX conversion across line items.
Who owns my data?+
You do. Export to CSV or Excel any time. If you delete a workspace, we hard-delete the data (not soft-delete) within 24 hours.
Do you have a free tier?+
No, deliberately. Free tiers optimise for the wrong thing - the product gets neutered and support gets overrun. Instead: a 7-day Pro trial, then a $12/mo Startup plan that’s priced to sting less than a lunch.
